1: serious determined effort

2: activity directed toward a goal

You are striving to be your best; to grow, feel, and heal; to create healthier habits—these are big endeavors. I acknowledge the work you are ready to pursue.

I am Ella Shepherd, the founder of Endeavors Counseling. You are taking the important step of searching for a counselor. Seeking help is brave, and I see you.

Ella Shepherd, LMHC, NCC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Florida

National Certified Counselor

I’m Ella and I’m glad you’re here! You may be searching for help with your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, or a combination of all three. The question you probably have is, “Can you help me?” I know that with your serious, determined effort and my training and experience, we can.

My goal is to show you acceptance, warmth, and support. The hope is you will learn to see yourself the way I do, as capable of solving the very concerns that led you to seek help.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Play Therapy Certificate. I am a certified Yoga Instructor and may incorporate aspects of movement and breath into counseling, too.

My clinical experience is with youth, adolescents, adults of all ages, couples, and families. I spent two and a half years in community-based mental health, providing services in Orange County, Florida. I started Endeavors Counseling in March of 2021.

I would be honored to work with you.

My Approach

My approach depends on your concerns. I consider the tools and resources you possess and create a specific plan for you.

I offer tools and resources (never advice) from a place of full acceptance and positive regard. You are in the driver’s seat and will decide whether the suggestions I offer will work in your world, or not.

I like metaphors and sometimes use one to describe my approach. The process is like making spaghetti. The noodles are the tools, resources, and new skills I will teach you in counseling. But the noodles are not for me to eat, so it’s for you to decide if they’re edible when I send them your way. Ultimately, you will determine what sticks and what falls back into the pot to cook longer. The solutions that will work best are the ones you want to put on your plate.

Inclusive Practice

It is my responsibility — as a therapist who is committed to serving a diverse population of humans — that I maintain and sustain cultural competency. This is an ongoing process. I am committed to serving you, and honoring your complex and unique identity, including but not limited to racial, ethnic, and cultural identities, religious beliefs, national origin, sexual identity, gender identity, abilities, age, and stage of life. It is crucial that you feel comfortable with me as your therapist. If I do not meet your expectations, I am committed to finding you the right fit.

A note about insurance and pricing.

I do not accept insurance. I encourage you to explore your insurance benefits and use them if that works best for you.

I understand that accessing counseling can be challenging and sometimes help is not available to those who need it most. I have done my best to build a practice that understands this concern.

I am committed to transparency about my price structure and providing referrals and community resources to meet your needs. I offer short-term therapy and group therapy as lower-cost options and may provide sliding scale rates and scholarships for those who need them.

My sliding scale is as follows. I have created 3 spots for clients who need to pay $30 per session, 5 spots for clients who need to pay $50, and 5 spots for clients who need to pay between $60-90 per session. I allow you to select the best rate based on the sliding scale spots available at the time.
